Mommies With Cameras- Photography Class Dates for 2014!

So excited to get some new class dates on the calendar for you!  For those of you who have taken my class, you know how much I enjoy teaching fellow mamas how to use their DSLR cameras to capture beautiful everyday moments in their lives.  I have such passion about helping people who want to get the most out of their camera and learn it in an easy, hands-on way.  I never learned well from reading camera manuals and so instead I spent years doing a lot of trial and error (with loads and loads of errors).  It’s fun to pass along the knowledge those years gave me and watch my participants walk out of class feeling confident about how to shoot in manual and get gorgeous shots themselves.  If you want to know more about the Mommies with Cameras classes, check out my website and click on “photography classes”.

I’m THRILLED to be offering a brand new class all about how to shoot with your iPhone!  Crazy, right?  But after realizing that I photograph my own children 90% of the time with my iPhone and truly how great of a little gadget it is, I decided this was actually a necessary class.  So many of my clients and friends do not own a DSLR camera and so the “Mommies With Cameras” class isn’t an option for them.  In addition, one of my favorite quotes is, “The best camera is the one you have with you”.  Isn’t that the truth?!  As much as I wish I could lug my big fancy camera everywhere I go, it just isn’t always practical.  So, more often that not, I’m snapping some shots with my iPhone and using that to document the daily happenings of the Hernandez fam.

We start from the very beginning and work together to learn the basics of shooting in the manual setting, adjusting your ISO, aperture, shutter speed and white balance (don’t let those words scare you, Emily walks you through each step).  Classes have up to 8 participants and lots of one-on-one time with Emily.  We learn the tips and tricks of getting the best shots of your own children using both indoor and outdoor lighting.  Emily goes through her favorite camera equipment including lens recommendations and gives you resources to further your learning.   And then, once class is over, you can join a private Facebook group with other class participants to share ideas, post photos, offer advice and more.  You’ll receive a workbook to take home and leave ready to shoot like the pros!

Requirements: You must own a DSLR camera (meaning the lens is removable).  Class fee of $150 is due in cash or check the day of class.  This class is for women only, however Emily has taught a “mens only” class in the past.  If there are enough men interested, she will add a date for just them. 🙂

So CHEERS to making 2014 the year you learn to take beautiful photographs!  As a mom of four, I’m constantly reminded that these are the “good old days” that someday I’ll look back and remember fondly.  Being able to capture the every day moments in our home is priceless to me.  I’m SO grateful for cameras and all they can do to preserve our memories.  I’m looking forward to helping you capture your family’s history-in-the-making too!
